About an hour away from Palm Springs and only a few minutes from Joshua Tree, lies the town of Twentynine Palms. Since Joshua Tree has gained in popularity rover the past few years, it’s only natural that downtown Twentynine Palms would also begin to see a revival. Last month I took a little side trip to check out the latest and here are a few favorite shops to visit if you’re in the area.

I’ve been a fan of the work of artist Sara Lyons for awhile, ever since discovering it via Instagram. Last fall she opened up her own little shop delightfully called “Scorpion Lollipop”. It’s located inside “Corner 62”, which used to be an old grocery store, but now houses a bunch of little small shops. Scorpion Lollipop carries a bunch of Sara’s pieces (including stickers, buttons, and cards) as well as other small gifts and even a great selection of craft beverages. Stop in for some goodies and get refreshed with a cold one! (@scorpionlollipop29)

Also located at Corner62 is Desert General Store. It has a bunch of eco-friendly prodcuts and supplies for the outdoor lifestyle. There is also a small gallery space inside as well. (@desertgeneralstore)

Across the street from the shops at Corner62 are two more boutiques that you shouldn’t miss. First is Hi-Desert Daydream. They carry a mix of products from small makers, including decor, clothing, apothecary, jewelry, and artwork. (@hidesertdaydream)

Just a few doors down, Habitat is a little home goods store with tons of cute vases, serveware, planters (and plants!) and other accessories. Many of the items are also from local artists. (@shophabitat29)
I didn’t get a chance to get too deep into the area, or be able to hit any restaurants, but I’m definitely returning and will report back! If you have any local rec’s in Twentynine Palms, please share!
