The saying is true, sometimes you do just “…need to stop and smell the flowers…” or at least just take a moment to look and admire them.
If you’ve been following me on social, you’ll know that this Spring has been quite tough. My mom passed away quite suddenly at the end of March, from a very aggressive pancreatic cancer. It’s still a bit surreal. It was quite an intense month or so while everything was going on. However, now that it’s over, I’m slowly moving forward, and recently, a trip to the famous Flower Fields down in Carlsbad was nice way to begin the healing.
The Flower Fields house about 50 acres of rows and rows of planted ranunculus and other flowers. I’ve always seen pictures, but had never experienced it in person. It’s only open a few months in the year, and I was lucky enough to catch it this year with my dear friend Abby Stone.
If you’ve never been, I think it’s definitely worth a trip if you’re already heading down to visit San Diego. It’s also conveniently located right next to the Carlsbad Outlet mall, so for any shopaholics… I’ll just leave that bit of info right there, lol
My mom loved flowers and plants, and seeing so much vast color and natural beauty was a nice way to remember her.
