Even though it’s still technically “winter”, Spring has definitely sprung in fashion land. For 2018, COS continues to explore organic shapes and materials, taking inspiration from the past, present, and an imagined future.
A few months ago, I was able to preview the Spring collection. OMG talk about pretty colors. I immediately fell in love with the mix of powdery ochres, leaf green, mint, navy, and rusty browns.
A major concept for Spring 2018 revolves around taking inspiration from the qualities of paper. The COS design team translated these ideas by playing with textures- whether it’s coating cotton fabric, crumpling, folding, and even utilizing Tyvek, (which is the same coated paper material that is often used in shipping envelopes).
The designers also experimented with different proportions and unexpected cuts and lengths. Layering is a key idea, with lots of sheer pieces that can be worn over or under other pieces.
I think my favorite piece in the collection is the elongated bucket hat. It’s a fresh take that also serves some 90’s nostalgia that I am totally here for.
The COS Spring 2018 collection is arriving in stores and online now.
