In addition to my DIY Faux Neon Skull Wall Hanging, it wouldn’t be Halloween here at Happy Mundane without me doing a pumpkin project right? This year, I kept it really simple, and mainly wanted to just play around with color.
I decided to go with some supersized spikes and to just keep it clean and bold. I made the spikes by using small cut rectangles of light cardstock, and hot glued them onto a small fake plastic pumpkin. I went with plastic pumpkin because I figured the glue would stick better, plus I thought it would be fun to have it around past the holiday season. I sprayed it a super bright and matte cobalt blue. (I found the perfect shade at my local specialty art supply store, and apparently this particular line of spray paints is used by graffiti artists, so if you can’t find a color you’re looking for, try looking there!)
Finally, I accented my super spikey pumpkin with some of those creepy textured gourds that come in a variety pack at the grocery store. I sprayed a few of those in other colors (and I painted one black and flecked white paint on it).
And there you have it! Fall centerpiece 2016!
Are you guys ready for Halloween?
