Electric Objects

Electric Objects

One of the easiest ways to refresh your space is changing out your artwork. Artwork says so much about your personality and instantly gives any space a little bit more soul. Now, granted, the act of actually physically changing out your artwork is a whole other issue. You have to deal with framing, mounting, and constantly putting and patching holes in your wall, etc… Imagine how great it would be to switch out your art with the touch of a button whenever the mood strikes, and via the convenience of your smartphone?…

Recently, the folks at Electric Objects reached out to introduce me to the EO1. Electric Objects is a digital art platform that gives you access to an amazing catalog of digital artworks. Their mission is to put digital art on a wall in every home. Artwork is displayed on the EO1. It’s essentially a high def internet connected computer and monitor in one that can be mounted onto your wall, or even left free standing.

I was super curious to find out what this all meant and how it all worked. Electric Objects was kind enough to send me one, and I have to say, it’s pretty awesome!

After opening up and unpacking the EO1, you turn it on and it connects to your wifi network. From there you download the app onto your smartphone, and pair the unit to the app. The app is really where all the magic is controlled. From the app, you have access to their entire catalog and community of art and digital artists.

You can spend hours just going through and previewing photos, still lifes, digital compositions, etc… but my favorite are the animations. There are so many incredible animated works that range from subtle and soothing, to bold and hypnotic.

You can select pieces from their “Art Club”, which are pieces curated and commissioned by Electric Objects (they’ve worked with artists like Bjork, Ai Weiwei, Yacht, and more!), as well as select from other members of the Electric Objects community, or you can upload your own pieces, which you can keep private, or share with other members as well. The image below (left) is one of my instagrams. So fun to see it big and lit up!

You simply select a piece of art you want displayed from the app and boom! onto the screen it appears. As simple as that! Another cool feature is you can create custom “playlists” and curate a selection of artworks that can rotate being displayed. You can set it to switch out every 30 mins, every hour, every 12 hours, or every 24 hours. You can curate playlists for special occasions or moods, etc…

And, to take things even more next level, Electric Objects recently partnered with some of the biggest art institutions and museums, like The Getty, LACMA, The New York Public Library, and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This means you can now discover and display some of the most classic works of art in your very own home!

I love coming into a room and seeing something different on the wall each time! I’m especially enjoying all the animated works.

Full Disclosure: Electric Objects gifted me a E01 unit for review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
