When we left off (part 1 and 2), I had all the major pieces in place. I just needed to get a few accessories. One thing that really bothered me was the existing black desk chair. It just stood out and was just begging to be replaced with something less obtrusive. I figured by now there it shouldn’t be that hard to find an inexpensive white swivel office chair. Well, I was wrong. I couldn’t seem to find one locally here without it needing to be ordered and allowing for at least another week for delivery.
Luckily after a bit more searching, I found that Officemax had a good opetion and there was one at a store about 20 minutes away, but to compensate, it happened to be on sale that week!- YES!
After that, I just needed a few pillows, another piece of art or two, a few other small pieces and I also added a plant (since that always makes a room feel just a bit more cozy don’t you think?)
And… here’s the final room!
The yellow gradation pillow on the bed was from Target, the succulent artwork above the dressers was from World Market. The painting above the desk was another HomeGoods find. The blue pillow on the chair was a leftover that one I had from another project.
I’m pretty pleased with the way everything turned out. Despite the unintentionally short deadline, it was basically a pretty simple bedroom makeover. I kept most of the main pieces (bed, desk, and side tables) since they were fine and in good condition, and really, already situated in the best locations. I just added some color, extra storage, and a few accessories to make the room more functional.
When my parents came home, (I wasn’t able to be there since I was already away on my work trip) I’m happy to say they were thrilled! My mom mentioned that before I started on the project, my parents had already been casually looking for a new headboard. I was a bit concerned that my Dad wouldn’t like the one I ended up choosing, since it is a bit more feminine- but I guess it turns out my they had actually seen that one and it was one of my Dad’s favorite! Good thing I made the right choice!
After completing this project, I was inspired to do a similar simple switch up to my own bedroom. Stay tuned for that coming up next!
