As the song goes, “…weekends were made for fun!” and the weekend home of Fab.com creator, Bradford Shellhammer, is one to surely put a smile on your face. It’s super bright and filled with warm, whimsical touches.
The first thing that you can’t miss is this vibrant yellow couch. Set against a black painted wall, the contrast is tempered by the graphic posters (i LOVE that classic Bob Dylan poster by Milton Glaser) which adds additional colors into the mix and sets the tone for the rest of the space.
In the sitting room area, he kept most of the furniture pieces solid or neutral wood, which helps keep the focus on the bold carpet tiles. Also interesting to note is the mix of different colored tiles. Instead of just one pattern, he used a selection of black and white as well as multi colored. Because the scale and colors match, the whole thing blends seamlessly together. The fact that they are individual floor tiles makes it easy to clean and replace, as well as being a much more affordable option to a large custom rug.
Lee Tran Lam of Inside/Out shared with me this extra soundbyte from Bradford:
“I really think your living room should be a place where you can live: share a glass of wine with friends, play games, relax, laugh, whatever. So even though the pieces for this room were carefully collected, it’s comfortable and meant for people to enjoy and unwind…”
I think Bradford’s philosophy for Fab.com says it best when it comes to decorating any space in your home:
“At Fab, we’re on a mission to rid the world of boring beiges—not get rid of beige altogether, per se, but to give people permission to explore and bring life and fun into the world they live in.”
