well lookee what I picked up last night while perusing through the Anthropologie store at Fashion Island? It’s the new Decorate book!
If you don’t already know, Decorate is the new book by Holly Becker, of the blog Decor8, and Joanna Copestick. First off, the book is substantial. It’s over 280+ pages!
They’ve put together a really great piece that’s meant to inspire and encourage anyone looking to take on the often daunting task of decorating. Rather than presenting straightforward house-tours or simply showing a particular style, the book is divided into several sections that guide you step by step into the process of putting together your home.
Along they way, they feature quotes from tons of design professionals, as well as incredible photos by Debi Treloar. Speaking of photos, the book lets us in on sneak peeks into the homes of several big designers, like Jonathan Adler and Thom Filicia. I’m especially loving Jonathan Adler’s kitchen, which I hadn’t really seen before. Oh, and check out this gorgeous shot of this vase with sequins in it.
How glamorous is that?! So simple to do too!
The tone of the book is all done in a manner that isn’t intimidating, but rather quite easy, and also mindful of budgets. I really like the overall tone that you can work with what you have, no matter what aesthetic you’re drawn to, and make it into something unique and beautiful that you’ll love to live in.
On a personal side note, I’ve known Holly for what seems like blog-4-ever. We both started our blogs around the same time many moons ago and it’s so exciting to watch her grow from simple blogger to now official fabulous published author! Congrats Holly!! Decorate is released next month (only a few weeks away!) but, as you can see, you can pick it up at your local Anthropologie right now!
